If you wish to perform an action on a computer or from a computer, you can’t just push a button like in the movies. You would have to search for options in a menu and make various configurations. N-Button makes everything much easier. Although you still have to go through menus and options, you can place a series of widgets on your desktop, which can be used to control external devices, send data or HTTP requests, run applications and more. Furthermore, all widgets can be configured in a flexible manner, without typing a single line of code. You will be able to perform the aforementioned actions right away, just by clicking a large and colored button on your desktop.
N-Button comes in Pro and Lite editions. The Lite version is cheaper, but it comes with less features. The setup package is 6.30 MB and you can install the software’s components in no time. It works on all popular Windows platforms and it does not use too many resources.
The main user interface displays a preview of your created widgets, as well as options for basic adjustments, like changing their opacity level, showing or hiding their labels, showing them on top of all windows or only on your desktop and others. You may click various buttons, beneath the preview area, to add new widgets, such as relay buttons or status meters, A/D meters, dimmer buttons or sliders and more.
New widgets are configured on separate windows. In most cases, you will find different options, depending on the widget type, but you will also find common ones, for selecting a device or a button type. It is possible to customize the appearance of certain widgets, by changing fonts, colors, sizes and so on.
Custom widgets can be created as well. You can set them to launch applications, send emails, execute system actions and much more. All you have to do is select an action type in a drop menu, select files or perform other basic operations. Devices can be managed on a different window. The software allows you to choose from a wide range of devices. It supports Bluetooth relays, Ethernet, ZigBee, USB or Wi-Fi relays and more.
Pros:
The software allows you to control external devices and perform many other actions, through a series of widgets, placed on your desktop. It places numerous customization options at your disposal. The best part is that everything can be done without typing any code.
Cons:
There are no obvious drawbacks to mention.
Thanks to N-Button’s user friendly design, you don’t need any programming skills to control your external devices.
