It\u00a0makes point to point and point to multi point wireless communicate very easy.\u00a0 <a title=\"National Control Device\" href=\"http:\/\/www.controlanything.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Control Devices<\/a> released <a title=\"ZR1x\/ZR2x\" href=\"http:\/\/www.controlanything.com\/Merchant2\/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&amp;Product_Code=ZR15&amp;Category_Code=CAT_RELAY1_ZIGBEE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ZR1x\/ZR2x <\/a>with Zigbee module. We will install Zigbee module in an electric outlet. It will be controlled by our timer software, <a title=\"Relay Timer R2X\" href=\"http:\/\/www.serialporttool.com\/RelayTimerR2XInfo.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Relay Timer R2x<\/a>. We use two 5V mobile phone\u00a0power adapter and connect them together to get 10v for ZR1x.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29\" style=\"width: 334px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-29\" title=\"Two 5v mobile phone power adapter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.serialporttool.com\/sptblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/5vadapter.jpg\" alt=\"Two 5v mobile phone power adapter\" width=\"334\" height=\"174\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Two 5v mobile phone power adapter<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Config\u00a0ZR1x board and Zigbee modem with <\/strong><a title=\"Comm Operator\" href=\"http:\/\/www.serialporttool.com\/CommOpInfo.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Comm Operator<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Before we assemble the ZR1x with the outlet, we need\u00a0configure and test\u00a0the connection between ZigBee modem and ZR1x.<\/p>\n<p>To make the two ZigBee modules talks to each other, they have to be in same protocol and using the same PAN ID.\u00a0 We will check Firmware version and destination of Zigbee module on ZR1x and Zigbee modem.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s assume the Zigbee module on ZR1x named Z1 and Zigbee moduel on modem named Z2.<\/p>\n<p>The default baudrate for setting of Z1 is 115200. The setting of Z2 is 9600.\u00a0 It is not necessary to set the same baudrate to Z1 and Z2.\u00a0 ZigBee module can talk in different baudrate. I&#8217;d like to change Z1 to 9600 so same configuration can work for both Z1 and Z2.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0We will use Comm Operator for this.<\/p>\n<p>Comm Operator v4.1 has plug-in for ZigBee. It is easy to test ZigBee application with it.<\/p>\n<p>Put Z1 in modem board and connect it with computer.<\/p>\n<p>Start Comm Operator, select the port that ZigBee modem used. The default setting for ZigBee modem is 115200, N, 8, 1<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_64\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64\" style=\"width: 569px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-64\" title=\"Open ZigBee Modem\" src=\"http:\/\/www.serialporttool.com\/sptblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/openzigbeemodem1.jpg\" alt=\"Open ZigBee Modem\" width=\"569\" height=\"355\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-64\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Open ZigBee Modem<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Goto [Tool]-&gt;[XBee Device Properties] to confirm the setting of Zigbee modem.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_65\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-65\" style=\"width: 364px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-65\" title=\"Zigbee Modem Properties\" src=\"http:\/\/www.serialporttool.com\/sptblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/zigbeemodemprop.jpg\" alt=\"Zigbee Modem Properties\" width=\"364\" height=\"398\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-65\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zigbee Modem Properties<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Set the destination to Z2&#8217;s address.\u00a0 You can find the 64bits address from Zigbee module. It can also be get from properties window. Set the baudrate to 9600.<\/p>\n<p>Click the &#8220;Write to Memory&#8221; to update.\u00a0 Exit the property window and change the setting to 9600, N, 8,1.<\/p>\n<p>Enter property window again.<\/p>\n<p>Click &#8220;Read&#8221; to verify.<\/p>\n<p>Exit Comm Operator.<\/p>\n<p>Unplug the ZigBee Modem and unmount the Z1 module. mount Z2 to Zigbee Modem board and run Comm Operator again. This time, set Z2&#8217;s destination to Z1&#8217;s address and write to memory of Z2. Exit Comm Operate after this.<\/p>\n<p>Mount Z2 to ZR1x and Z1 to Zigbee modem.<\/p>\n<p>Power ZR1x.<\/p>\n<p>Start Comm Operator and switch to NCD panel by [View]-&gt;[NCD].<\/p>\n<p>Send 254, 0 to turn off and 254 ,1 to turn on.\u00a0 The ZR1x should turn on\/off. So far, we have make this two Zigbee module talk to each other.<\/p>\n<p>The next step is test ZR1x from RelayTimer R2x. It can be download from <a title=\"link of RelayTimer R2x\" href=\"http:\/\/www.serialporttool.com\/download\/RelayTimer\/RelayTimerR2X.msi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Install it and Run configuration, set com port and baudrate with same port and baudrate we used in Comm Operator.<\/p>\n<p>Switch to \u00a0manual mode and\u00a0\u00a0turn it On\/Off manually.<\/p>\n<p>So far we have made everything work together.
