How to Create Customized Button Widget

N-Button Pro and N-Button Lite make it possible to control your serial port/USB or network devices without any programming!

You can send the specified data,  run applications, send http requests or send data lists.

Here are the steps to create Customized Button widget.

1. Download N-Button Pro or N-Button Lite and install it. Double click the N-Button Pro/Lite icon to run it. N-Button Pro/Lite Manager will be shown on your screen.

2. Click Setting button to select the Manufactory of your device, and select connection method between your device and computer, Serial Port/USB or Network.

3. Click Customized Button  on N-Button Pro/Lite Manager to open Properties – Customized Button dialog. Set the button’s appearances and action for click or press and release.

4. Click Setting button to open Click/Press/Release Action Setting dialog. Select one of the options to set the action for the Customized Button. It can be set to Send Specified Data, Run Application, send HTTP Request or Send Data List.

5. Click OK to return N-Button Manager dialog. The Customized Button is added to the manager panel. Click OK to finish adding button. The Customized Button will float on you desktop now. Click the button to send your specified data to your connected device.

Note: The data list file (*.sds) can be created by our Comm Operator software. Here is an example.

How to create A/D Meter widget

N-Button Pro and N-Button Lite make it possible to control relay controller boards of National Control Devices without any programming!

Here are the steps to create A/D Meter widget for NCD’s A/D relay boards.

1. Download N-Button Pro and N-Button Lite and install it. Double click the N-Button Pro/Lite icon to run it. N-Button Pro/Lite Manager will be shown on your screen.

2. Click Setting button to select the Manufactory for your A/D relay board.Select connection method between relay board and computer, Serial Port/USB or Network.

3. Click "A/D Meter"  button to show Properties – AD Meter dialog to set relay ID and appearance for A/D Meter widgets.

All kinds of sensors, such as temperature, electric current,  voltage, humidity, velocity, pressure, etc., can be connected to A/D channel. A/D Meter widget of N-Button Pro/ Lite will read the value of A/D channel and show the value on the screen. The raw value of A/D channel is 0-255. The meter can map the value to different range, like 0-5, which is voltage on A/D channel or other value you want. The widgets can update the value at specific interval automatically as well as refreshed manually.

How to create Relay Status Widget

N-Button Pro and N-Button Lite make it possible to control relay controller boards of National Control Devices and K8090/VM8090 relay card of Velleman without any programming! You can create a button to control relays with a few clicks in N-Button Pro/Lite. You also can create Relay Status widget to display the status of the relay.

Here are the steps to create Relay Status widget.

1. Download N-Button Pro or N-Button Lite and install it. Double click the N-Button Pro/Lite icon to run it. N-Button Pro/Lite Manager will be shown on your screen.

2. Click Setting button to select the Manufactory for your relay, National Control Devices or Velleman. Select connection method between relay board and computer, Serial Port/USB or Network.

3. Click "Relay Status" on N-Button Pro/Lite Manager to show Properties – Relay Button dialog to set relay channel and appearance for Relay Status widget.

4. Click OK button to return to N-Button Pro/Lite Manager. Click ”Relay Status” to add more widgets. Click OK button on N-Button Pro/Lite Manager, you will see the Relay Status widgets floating on your desktop.

When the status of relay is changed, the color of Relay Status widget will also be changed.

4. Click "Relay Button" on N-Button Pro/Lite Manager to show Properties – Relay Button dialog to set control action and appearance for Relay Button widget.

Relay Button widget can be set to control single relay or multi relays. It can turn on/off relays, toggle relay status, and set status of relays. The built-in relay buttons can display the current status for single relay. You also can load your own relay button image.

5. Click OK button to return to N-Button Pro/Lite Manager. Click ”Relay Button” to add more widgets. Click OK button on N-Button Pro/Lite Manager, you will see the Relay Button widgets floating on your desktop.

As long as the connection between your relay board/card and your computer is available, the created Relay Button widgets are ready to control your relays.

One Button Timer – Turn ON/OFF relay in specific time with N-Button

Using N-Button software, you can create only one button to turn on/off relay in specific time.

There are two ways.

One is to create a Customized Button -> Send Specified Data. There are timer commands for PorXR relay boards of National Control Devices, which can turn on/off a relay for given time.

For example, to turn on Relay 1 for 30 seconds, you can create a customized button to send data “254 50 50 0 0 30 0”.

Another way is to create a Customized Button -> Send Data List. It can run a command list which created by Comm Operator software. In command list, you can send a group of commands and specify the interval between each command.

Here is a sample list to turn on Relay 1 for 30 seconds, then turn off it for 5 seconds, then turn on it for 20 seconds, and then turn of it.

The data can be added or edited by click “Edit” button. You also can test the data list by clicking “Start” button.

Save as the Send Data List to a *.sds file. Here is sample.sds.

Now, create a Customized Button to open the sample.sds file in N-Button. When the button is clicked, it will start to run the command list. The command list works for all relay boards.

This is only one simple application for N-Button. You can create buttons to send data to any of your devices.

How to Access Relay Timer Remotely?

Relay Timer  is programmable timer software to control ProXR relay controller boards of National Control Devices. It supports 1 ProXR relay board and up to 15 extension boards with 16-channel on each. It’s fit for controlling lights, motors, pumps, bells, audio, video and other applications related with home automation, science experiment, industry control, energy conservation and so on. Powerful schedule setting make it possible to control anything!

You can control your relays connected with your computer locally. The relays can also be controlled remotely from other computer, because Relay Timer has a built in web server.

Here are the steps to access Relay Timer remotely.

1. You need run Relay Timer on a computer, here we call it Computer 1.

2. You need to enable the option ”Remote Access” on Configuration panel.

3. You need to get the IP address of Computer 1, here it’s 192.168.0.35.

4. Then, you can access Relay Timer from other computer by visiting the IP address through any internet browser. You may be asked to input the password, if it has been set.

Now, you can control your relays from any other computer as long as the computer is connected with internet or private networks, such as your home or work network.

If Port Number is 80, you just need to type the IP address in the browser, shown as below. If Port Number is modified, you need add the number after the IP address, such as, 192.168.0.35:8080.

How to Turn On/Off Relay Automatically with Relay Timer R16X?

Relay Timer R16X is programmable timer software to control relay manually and automatically.

It works with 16-channel relay controller boards of National Control Devices.

To control your relay with Relay Timer R16X, you need connect your relay board with your computer and Set Configuration in Relay Timer R16X to make sure the connection is available. You need to select the type of your relay board and the connection way.

To control relay automatically, the schedule of relay status must be set at first.

Click Relay Timer R16X - Setting button on the Relay Control Panel to open Relay Setting dialog.

The relay can be given a name here.

Click Add button to open Schedule Setting dialog.

Edit the Schedule Name, select Relay Status, set Schedule Time, select Recurrence Pattern and Range.

Click OK to return Relay Setting dialog.

Different schedules can be added by this way.

The relay will be turned on/off automatically according to the schedule list.

To control your relay with Relay Timer R8X, you need connect your relay board with your computer and Set Configuration in Relay Timer R8X to make sure the connection is available. You need to select the type of your relay board and the connection way.

The status of the relay can be customized except only on or off during the setting time.

For example, relay can be on 10 minutes, off 5 minutes within one hour, and on 20 minutes and off 10 minutes within the other one hour. This can be set as steps below.

Step1. Click Relay Timer R8X - Setting button on the Relay Control Panel to open Relay Setting dialog.

Step 2. Click Add button to open Schedule Setting dialog. Edit the Schedule Name, set Schedule Time(2 hours), select Recurrence Pattern and Range.

Step 3. Click Customize Action or the edit button beside it to open Customize Action dialog.

Step 4. Click Add button to open Add Action dialog.
