N-Button Automation: Control Relay with Push Notification Board

N-Button Lite/Pro software Automation feature allows you to control relay board with push notification contact closure board. That means you match input channels on push notification board with relay channels on relay board to turn on or turn off relays when the input channel is tripped.

Here will show you how to turn on and turn off relay with push notification input channels by N-Button Lite/Pro software.

Task: 

  • Trip input channel 1 to Turn On relay channel 1
  • Trip input channel 2 to Turn Off relay channel 1

Step 1. Download and install N-Button Lite or Pro software

Step 2. Connect  your relay board and push notification board with your computer.

Step 3. Run N-Button Lite/Pro software. Click Devices Manager –> New to add relay board and push notification board to Devices Manager.

Step 4. Click Scan Channel to open Properties – Scan Channel. Select Device MyPushNotificationBoard added above, keep Bank ID 1, select Channel ID 1, select Style for Scan Channel widget.

Step 5. Repeat Step 4 to add a Scan Channel widget for Channel ID 2.

Here, Style is Text Label. You can input Caption for the text on the label. The default caption is Close when Push Notification channel is contact closure, otherwise the caption is Open. You also can select other Style for Scan Channel to show red or green when the channel is contact closure.

Step 6. Click OK on N-Button Lite/Pro Manager. Two Scan Channel widgets will show on your desktop with caption Open on them. Push the channel’s button or trigger the channel to closure, you will see caption Close showing on the widget. That indicates the push notification board works well with N-Button.

Step 7. Add a Relay Button widget for relay channel 1. It’s similar as Step 4. Just be sure you select Device – MyRelayBoard, Action – Toggle One Relay, Bank ID –1, Relay ID –1, select the Style which will show relay status.

Step 8. Click the Relay Button widget on your desktop to turn on/off relay. The relay status will be shown on the button, green for on and red for off.  That makes sure the relay  board works well with N-Button also.

Note: Here, only one Relay Button is added with action Toggle One Relay. You can add two buttons, one for Turn On One Relay, another for Turn Off One Relay. You can also add Relay Status widget just show the status of relay channel 1.

Step 9. Right-click on one of Scan Channel widget or Relay Button Widget to show pop-up menu, click N-Button Lite/Pro Manager to open the manager panel. Click Automation on N-Button Lite/Pro Manager to open Automation Manager. Click New to show  Rule Type panel. Click Push Notification Contact Closure Rule to open setting panel.

Step 10.  Click the first Setting  button to select Device – MyPushNotificationBoard, Bank ID 1 and Channel ID 1, which you will trigger to turn on relay channel 1.

Step 11. Click the second Setting button to select:

  • Action type –Relay Action
  • Action Device – MyRelayBoard
  • Control Action – Turn On One Relay
  • Bank ID – 1
  • Relay ID – 1

Step 12. Click OK on above panels back to Automation Manager panel. Follower the Step 7-9 to add another Push Notification Contact Closure Rule for Channel 2 to turn off relay channel 1. Be sure you select Channel 2 on MyPushNotificationBoard, and Turn Off One Relay for control action.

Step 13. Click OK on all above setting panels to finish Automation control setting until you see the Scan Channel widget and Relay Button widget on your desktop. 

Step 14. Try to trip input channel 1 and 2. You will see the relay 1 is  turned on by tripping input channel 1, and turned off by tripping input channel 2.

N-Button Automation: Send Data with Push Notification Board

N-Button Lite/Pro software automation feature supports to send data automatically with push notification series board of Nation Control Devices. Here will show you how to use Push Notification Contact Closure Rule to send data to your device.

Step 1.  Download and install N-Button Lite/Pro software.

Step 2. Connect Push Notification board and your device, which will receive data, with your computer.

Step 3. Run N-Button Lite/Pro software. Click Devices Manager –> New to add push notification board and you device to Devices Manager.

If the manufacturer of your device is not list in N-Button Lite/Pro, please select OTHER, and select Serial Port/USB or Network TCP/IP Client according to your device’s interface.

Step 4. Click Scan Channel to open Properties – Scan Channel. Select Push Notification Board added above, keep Bank ID 1, select Channel ID, Style for Scan Channel widget.

Here, Style is Text Label. You can input Caption for the text on the label. The default caption is Close when Push Notification channel is contact closure, otherwise the caption is Open. You also can select other Style for Scan Channel to show red or green when the channel is contact closure.

Step 5. Click OK on above panels. The Scan Channel widget is added and will show on your desktop. It should show Open, press/ push the input channel’s button, you will see the caption on the label changes to Close. That means the push notification board works well with N-Button.  You can add more Scan Channel widgets for other channels. Just be sure you select the right Channel ID for the widget.

Step 5.  Right-click the Scan Channel widget to show pop-up menu, click N-Button Lite/Pro Manager to open the manager panel. Click Automation on N-Button Lite/Pro Manager to open Automation Manager. Click New to show  Rule Type panel. Click Push Notification Contact Closure Rule to open setting panel.

Step 6. Click the first Setting  button to select Device, Bank ID and Channel ID, which you will trigger Send Data action.

Step 7.  Click the second Setting button to select Action Type – Send Data, Action Device – MyDevice, select the format of the data and input the data you want to send to your device.

Step 8. Click OK on all above setting panels to finish automation setting until you see the Scan Channel widget on your desktop.

Step 9. Now, when you push the button for the channel to make it contact closure, the data you input in Step 7 will be sent to your device automatically.

By this way, you can set up each channel to send different data to your device.

Steps to control Robot Electronics’ relay boards with N-Button Pro/Lite software:

1. Connect the relay board with your computer through USB or network interface. Be sure the relay board is in the same network with your computer.

2. Download, install and run N-Button Pro or Lite software.

3. On N-Button Pro/Lite Manager panel, click Devices Manager-> New to select Manufacturer-> Robot Electronics and the Device Type for your relay board.

4. Select USB or Network to set up the connection for the relay board with N-Button.

5. Click Relay Button to Open Properties – Relay Button. Select Device, Control Action and Style for the control button.

6. Click OK on Properties – Relay Button panel and N-Button Pro/Lite Manager panel to finish the setting. You will see the control button on your desktop. Click the button to control the relay board on/off.

Control Multiple Relay Boards with Relay Timer Software

Relay Timer is programmable timer software to control relay boards. It supports to connect and control multiple relay boards of National Control Devices, Robot Electronics and Velleman. Each relay board has a separate control panel with 16 relay channels. Powerful schedule setting make it much more easy to control relays manually and automatically.

Here will show you how to connect and control multiple relay boards with Relay Timer software.

1. Be sure you have the relay boards power on and  connected to your computer or network.

  • If the relay board has Serial Port/USB interface, you just need to plug the converter cable to your computer. image
  • If the relay board has Ethernet interface, you need to connect it to your router first, and then log-in to your router to make sure it connected into the same network with your computer.

2.  Download, install and run Relay Timer software.  Click Configure button to add devices one by one.  Make sure to select the right Manufacturer, Device Type, Port Name and Baud Rate, or IP address for the relay board.

3. After above settings, the connection information and status for each relay board will be shown at the bottom status bar of each control panel.

4. It’s ready to control the relay boards manually or automatically.

  • Press down the Manual button to let the relay channel step into manual control mode. Click the switcher to Turn On/off relays.

  • Click Setting button to set up the schedule setting before you let the relay channel step in to auto control mode.

  • Check Override to allow the relay channel step into auto control mode after period or at fixed time.

5. You can also connect and add the relay boards from different manufacturers, which on the list supported by Relay Timer. There is no problem to add the relay board less than 16 channels. If the 8-channel relay board is connected, Relay Timer will work well to control the 8 channels.

Control Samsung CCTV Camera Menu with PTZ Controller

PTZ Controller software supports Samsung protocol as well as Pelco D, Pelco P, Sony VISCA, Canon, Panasonic, etc. protocols.

PTZ Controller supports basic control for Samsung CCTV camera, such as Pan, Tilt, Zoom, Focus, Iris. It’s also possible to set Custom Function button to send data directly.

Right-click the custom function button, click Edit to show Function Setting panel.

If you know the control command, input the Data directly.

PTZ Controller has some built-in commands.  For Samsung protocol, Menu control commands are built-in. You can just select it.

Control NCD ProXR Relay Board with Quick Timer R8X

Quick Timer R8X software is special timer software to control relay controller board. It supports relay boards of National Control Devices, Robot Electronics and Velleman K8090/VM8090.

Here will show you how to control 8-channel ProXR relay board of National Control Devices with Quick Timer R8X.

1. Plug-in power for 8-channel ProXR relay board, and connect it with computer through USB interface(or Ethernet interface).

2. Download, install and run Quick Timer R8X.

3. Click Configure button to open Configuration panel.

    • Select Manufacturer –> National Control Devices
    • Select Device Type –> ProXR
    • Select Serial Port/USB if you use USB interface, or select Network if you use Ethernet interface.
    • Be sure to select the right Port Name, shown on the drop-list normally, and Baud Rate 115200 for ProXR relay board.

4. Click OK button on Configuration panel. You will see the basic information about the relay board is shown on the left side of status bar. In middle of the status bar, there is an flashing arrow. That means the ProXR relay board has been connected with Quick Timer R8X software.

    • Click Turn All On/Turn All Off button to control all 8 channels together.
    • Or click  On/Off switcher for each channel to control separately.

Press Start All button to step into auto control mode for all 8 channels, or press Start button for each channel to control the relay separately.

  •    Relay Time series support turning on/off each relay during the appointed time automatically. The specific start time and end time must be appointed at first. The start time and  end time can be set in the same day or any day within ten days. The start time and end time can be set recurrence daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or during some days.

  •   Quick Timer series support turning on/off each relay automatically during the predetermined duration. The duration must be set at first, just like set time for the oven or microwave oven. The status of relay on/off can be programmed within the duration.

Relay Timer R8X is programmable timer software to control relay and set timing features of the relay. It works with relay controller boards of National Control Devices.
